Michael John McKean (nacido el 17 de octubre de 1947 en Nueva York, Estados Unidos) es un talentoso actor, comediante, escritor, compositor y músico estadounidense. Es muy conocido por su papel de Leonard "Lenny" Kosnowski en la serie de televisión Laverne & Shirley. También es famoso por sus actuaciones en películas de Christopher Guest, como David St. Hubbins en Spinal Tap. Primeros años y comienzos de su carrera
Michael McKean nació en Nueva York. Sus padres son Ruth y Gilbert McKean. Cuando era adolescente, tocó música en algunas canciones de un grupo llamado The Left Banke.
McKean comenzó su carrera en Pittsburgh mientras estudiaba en la Universidad Carnegie Mellon. Allí conoció a David Lander, quien se convertiría en su compañero de comedia. Juntos formaron parte del grupo de comedia The Credibility Gap en Los Ángeles.
Su gran oportunidad llegó en 1976 cuando se unió al elenco de Laverne and Shirley. Los personajes de Lenny y Squiggy se hicieron muy populares. Incluso lanzaron un álbum musical en 1979 llamado "Lenny and the Squigtones". En este álbum, un joven Christopher Guest tocó la guitarra.
Éxito en cine y televisión
Después de Laverne and Shirley, McKean interpretó a David St. Hubbins en la película de comedia This is Spinal Tap. Esta película es una parodia de documentales musicales. También apareció en la telenovela Young Doctors in Love.
