John Matthew Heard Jr. (nacido en Washington D. C., el 7 de marzo de 1946 y fallecido en Palo Alto, California, el 21 de julio de 2017) fue un actor de Estados Unidos. Participó en películas, obras de teatro y programas de televisión.
Es muy recordado por su papel como Peter McCallister en las películas Home Alone y Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. En estas películas, interpretó al papá del personaje principal, Kevin McCallister, interpretado por Macaulay Culkin. También apareció en la serie de televisión CSI: Miami como Kenwall Duquesne, el padre de Calleigh Duquesne.

Primeros Años y Educación
John Heard fue hijo de John y Helen Heard. Creció junto a sus dos hermanas, una de las cuales también se dedicó a la actuación. Asistió a la escuela secundaria Gonzaga College High School. Después, se graduó de la Universidad Clark en Worcester, Massachusetts.
Vida Familiar
John Heard estuvo casado con la actriz Margot Kidder, conocida por su papel en Superman: la película (1978). Su matrimonio duró poco tiempo. Tuvo un hijo llamado Jack con su exnovia Melissa Leo. También tuvo dos hijos, Max y Anika, con su segunda esposa, Sharon Heard.
Fallecimiento
John Heard falleció el 21 de julio de 2017, a los 71 años. La causa de su muerte fue un paro cardíaco debido a problemas del corazón. Fue encontrado en un hotel en Palo Alto, California. Había estado recuperándose de una cirugía de espalda en el Hospital de la Universidad de Stanford. Fue sepultado en el cementerio South Side en Ipswich, Massachusetts.
