Robert Reuven Sokal (Viena, 13 de enero de 1926-Stony Brook, New York, 9 de abril de 2012) fue un bioestadístico y antropólogo austríaco. Distinguido como profesor emérito en la Universidad Estatal de Stony Brook, Nueva York, Sokal fue miembro de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias de los Estados Unidos, de la American Academy of Arts and Sciences y miembro honorario de la American Society of Naturalists. Promovió el uso de las estadísticas aplicadas al campo de la biología y cofundó la escuela fenética de la biología sistemática, junto a P. H. A. Sneath.
