Archivo: The Secretum Secretorum (The Secret of Secrets) - Louis the Great of Hungary

Descripción: The Secretum Secretorum (The Secret of Secrets) - King Louis the Great of Hungary One of oldest items in the Hertford College Library in Oxford, a 14th-century manuscript created for Louis the Great (1326-1382), King of Hungary, Croatia, and Poland. The title translates as "The Secret of Secrets" and includes guidance for rulers. This particular manuscript is unusual because Louis himself is illustrated in the first letter of the text. Louis commissioned this manuscript and another, the Illuminated Chronicle, which were both produced in a Hungarian workshop. Miklόs Meggyesi, son of Hertul the court painter of Louis, has traditionally been identified as the illuminator, though there is no real evidence for this.
