Archivo: Pectoral of Senusret III

Descripción: This extremely rare 12th Dynasty Egyptian Middle Kingdom pectoral dates to the 19th century BCE and was made of gold and semi-precious stones (carnelian, turquoise, amethyst and lapis lazuli). It belonged to Mereret, the daughter of king Senusret III and sister of king Amenemhat III which escaped the attention of ancient tomb robbers. This fine pectoral, which was found in the Dahshur tomb of Mereret, bears the cartouche or royal name of Senusret III: Khakaure meaning the Kas of Ra have appeared. see Senusret III html
