Descripción: The first Herbert and Katherine Jacobs in Madison, a national landmark (1937). This was the first Usonian house, a concept developed by Frank Lloyd Wright to provide modern architecture at affordable prices. Jacobs, who was a journalist at the Milwaukee Journal, challenged Wright to build the house for $5,000 (then a reasonable price for a home). Much of Wright's later works would revolve around the concept of a Usonian home.
