The Apocalypse tapestry is the oldest surviving set of tapestries of this size, 100m (328ft). It was commissioned in 1375 by Louis I, Duke of Anjou and brother of King Charles V. The tapestry took seven years to make which is quick for a work of this size. It is made entirely of wool and originally comprised six tapestries measuring 6 metres (19.7ft) high and 23 metres (75.5ft) long. Each piece starts with a major figure followed by two rows of seven scenes between a strip of sky and strip of earth. These pictures are only a small part of the tapestry.
