Description: Field Marshal the Viscount Montgomery of Alamein Kg Gcb Dso 1887-1976 16 Jan. 1947: Field Marshal Montgomery inspects a horse which had been the favourite of his old adversary Field Marshal Erwin Rommel in Holland. Also in the photograph is Prince Bernhard of Holland, who had just decorated Montgomery with the Royal Order of the Lion of the Netherlands.
