Archivo: El Toro de Las Delicias

Descripción: El Toro de Las Delicias is a bronze statue, one of several replicas in the world of the sculptor Isidore Bonheur. The bull measures 195 cm in height by 285 cm in length and 105 cm in width. The tail and head of the statue vary from one replica to the other. In the Maracay version, the tail bends in the opposite direction to the look of the head. The muzzle of the bull is open-mouthed, the jowls are wide and the horns of small caliber. The statue remained for several decades on a two-meter-high concrete pedestal. It was placed later on a base of smaller height, of marble, during the remodeling of the vial of the extreme north of Las Delicias. Despite the great boom of the bullfights in Maracay during the period that the statue arrived in Venezuela, the Toro de Las Delicias has an agricultural theme without suggestions of any influence of bullfighting.
