Descripción: (1 in a multiple picture album) Mary Colter was an architect with an amazing talent for designing buildings which blended in with the surroundings. The Watchtower is designed to do this AND to resemble the dwellings of the ancient Pueblo people. You can climb five flights of stairs. At each level are windows offering a 360 degree view of the canyon and the desert to the east. The watchtower was the last of the series of Mary Colter-designed visitor concession structures at the Grand Canyon until her renovation of the Bright Angel Lodge in 1935.
