Descripción: Civilian Bravery Awards during the Second World War Twenty-five year old Belgian woman Mlle Andree de Jongh, who saved the lives of many British airmen and soldiers, pictured after visiting Buckingham Palace to receive the George Medal in February 1946. From 1941 until her arrest in 1943 she organised the dispatch of Allied Service personnel from Belgium across the Pyrenees into Spain.
