Descripción: The memorial "Trains to Life - Trains to death: 1938-1939" on the Dorothea-Schlegel-Platz at the Friedrichstraße Railway Station in Berlin-Mitte. It remembers both the facts that 10.000 Jewish children were able to leave Berlin for England per railway before the start of WWII and that many other Jewish children were later deported to the extermination camps, also per railway. Two children stand for those saved, five children for those murdered. The sculpture was created by Israeli sculptor Frank Meisler, who was among those saved. A corresponding memorial is located at Liverpool Street Station in London. The memorial in Berlin was dedicated in November 2008.
