The recent Grand Army Encampment broughttens of thousands of visitors to our city to payhonor and respect to those who are still leftwith the rapidly diminishing remnant of thatgreat army of heroes. The fiftieth anniversaryof the famous march down the avenue of 1865will long be remembered by those who wit-nessed it. The city was beautifully decorated and every-thing was done for the comfort of the veterans,and to extend the heartiest welcome from theDistrict of Columbia to its defenders.
