Descripción: The 28-story building at 100 McAllister in San Francisco, California. Originally designed in 1927 by Miller and Pflueger for the Methodist Church, it was completed in 1930 by Lewis P. Hobart and opened as the luxurious William Taylor Hotel and Temple Methodist Church. In 1936, the hotel reopened under new ownership as the Empire Hotel which quickly became popular for its 24th-story Skyroom, the first view lounge bar in San Francisco. In World War II, the building was acquired by the US government for use as offices by the Internal Revenue Service, the Army's Ordnance Procurement department and the local draft board. In 1978, the University of California's Hastings School of Law purchased the building to use as student apartments. It also houses several political action groups and legal assistance organizations.
