El Óscar al mejor cortometraje animado es un galardón que se ha otorgado por la Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas desde la quinta entrega de los premios Óscar (1931). La categoría fue conocida como «cortometraje, dibujos animados» entre 1932 y 1970, y como «cortometraje, película animada» entre 1971 y 1973. El nombre actual ha sido utilizado desde 1974.
