Archivo: West side of the George Henry Thomas statue
Description: The statue of General George Henry Thomas, a prominent commander during the American Civil War, located in the center of Thomas Circle, a traffic circle in the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is a contributing property to the Fourteenth Street Historic District. The bronze equestrian statue was sculpted by John Quincy Adams Ward, and dedicated on November 19, 1879. It is one of seventeen Civil War monuments in Washington, D.C., that were collectively listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 20, 1978. The statuary was also designated a D.C. Historic Landmark on March 3, 1979.
