Descripción: Tipton is a city in and the county seat of Tipton County, Indiana, United States. The population was 5,106 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kokomo, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area . It was named after John Tipton, a politician. The town of Tipton, formed in 1844 is named after Major John Tipton, a veteran of the Battle of Tippecanoe and the War of 1812, and a leader of the Indiana Rangers. Tipton served as United States Senator for Indiana from 1831 until shortly before his death in 1839. The city of Tipton hosts a festival every year celebrating pork. Pork is one of the most popular businesses in Tipton.
