Descripción: Seen here are subaerially-exposed marine organisms and tidal pools along a rocky shoreline at Yaquina Head, Oregon. The bedrock flooring the tidal pools in the area is the Ginkgo Basalt, one of many lava flows in the Miocene-aged Columbia River Flood Basalt. The whitish-colored organisms are Pollicipes polymerus - gooseneck barnacles. The submerged, greenish-colored creatures at bottom and lower right are Anthopleura xanthogrammica - giant green anemones. The exposed brownish-colored organisms atop the rocks are algae - mostly (entirely?) Fucus rockweeds. Mytilus sp. mussels are encrusting the rocks in places.
