Archivo: Spinning Top Season in Japan (1914 by Elstner Hilton)

Descripción: If there are any tops in this photo, they must be quite small. Perhaps the small items on the twisted object are tops. What I can see is a boy holding a string, which he must have used to launch his top. It must have been great to be a kid in pre-war Japan because of all the festivals held throughout the year. This photo is from an album my spouse's uncle Elstner Hilton compiled in Japan between 1914 and 1918. While Uncle Elstner was pretty good about annotating the photos that required an explanation of some sort, he did not date the pictures. So all we know is they date to between January, 1914 and December, 1918.
