Descripción: Ottawa, Canada: The Rideau Canal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site on June 29, 2007. It is the best preserved canal in North America from the great canal-building era of the early 19th century to remain operational along its original line with most of its original structures intact. Christmas lights reflection near the National Arts Center (NAC). Parliament Hill and National War memorial in background. Old train station on right. Skate sharpening shacks and Beaver Tail concession stand floating in water. Note how the colored water reflections mimic the color banners on the NAC building (on left). When viewed very large, there is a small vertical shift due to accidental camera motion that went unnoticed until post-processing : This 'defect' seems to have had the benefit of preventing 'burn-in', i.e when a small and bright high dynamic range light source saturates the CCD pixels to white during long exposures. Hence the colors of the very small point-like lights remained distinguishable. I suppose its a 'happy accident' however next time I will take multiple exposures and synthesize an HDR. -Added to the ream of the Crop pool as my best of 2006
