Description: The Radisson Hotel at 53 West 32nd Street, also known as 1260-1266 Broadway, on the corner of Broadway off of Greeley Square in Manhattan, New York City, was built as the Hotel Martinique, name after its owner, William R. H. Martin, in 1897-98 and expanded in 1901-03 and 1909-11. It was designed by Henry Janeway Hardenbergh in French Renaissance style. In the 1970s and 1980s, the building was an emergency shelter and a welfare hotel. It was renovated in the 1990s, and has since served as a Holiday Inn, and now a Radisson Hotel. The building was designated a New York City landmark in 1998. (Sources: Guide to NYC Landmarks (4th ed.) an AIA Guide to NYC (4th ed.))
