Descripción: Poa fendleriana (muttongrass) when growing in sagebrush steppe or high alpine and subalpine settings commonly assumes a short-statured less-hairy growth form referred to as Poa cusickii. When growing in protected but otherwise open settings, such as the understory of subalpine Pinus albicaulis, Poa cusickii looks very much like Poa fendleriana in its tall stature (about 0.5 m tall) and in having a compacted greenish inflorescences (albeit with short hairs on the florets).
