Archivo: Peperomia pinoi (Piperaceae) (30140313775)

Descripción: Peru, Department Huánuco, prov. Leoncio Prado, Tingo Maria National Park, along a mountain river not far from Huallaga River, wet mossy slopes. Twelve of the estimated 1500–1700 taxa in Peperomia show a particular feature: their terminal inflorescences seem to originate from the base of a leaf blade as a result of the presence of a sessile leaf at the base of these inflorescences. Three of these 12 taxa occur in Ecuador and four species are reported from Colombia. From Peru, 5 species are known, all of them with condensed lateral branching. P. pinoi has leaves up to 2.5 cm long; spadices not reaching the margin of the lamina; stem and branches terete with nine longitudinal ribs, glabrous, purple red. All known collections are from the same area in the vicinity of Tingo Maria. www.researchgate.net/publication/227907658_Taxonomy_of_th...
