Descripción: Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans. In front of "Army of Tennessee" Confederate memorial tomb is this 1885 scupture by Alexander Doyle (1857 - 1922). The life size statue represents a Confederate officer about to read the roll of the dead during the American Civil War. The statue is said to have been modeled after Sergeant William Brunet of the Louisiana Guard Battery, but is intended to symbolically represent all Confederate soldiers. In the background is Doyle's 1877 equestrian bronze of General Albert Sidney Johnston.
