Description: The Mathematical Association of America headquarters (since 1979) located at 1529 18th Street, NW in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The five-story, Classical Revival building was constructed in 1903. It is a contributing property to the Dupont Circle Historic District, with a 2009 property value of $6,733,700. Notable owners of the building have included the Cuban government (Office of Legation from 1915–1919; residence of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes y Quesada while serving as Cuban Minister Plenipotentiary), Charles Evans Hughes (residence from 1921–1925 while serving as U.S. Secretary of State), Frederic M. Sackett (residence from 1928–1929 while serving in the U.S. Senate), the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States (headquarters during the 1950s), and the Association of the United States Army (headquarters from the 1950s–1970s).
