Descripción: Fantastic landscaping as we look around from the Jiu Qu Quiao zig zag bridge in the old town district of Shanghai. I never expected this big bad economic powerhouse with it's in--your-face capitalism to be this beautiful. Notes about the old town district appeared in previous captions. I don't know if this has any religious significance but all the buildings here appeared to have a uniform chocolate brown livery with gold trimming, embellishments and lettering. The fact that many of them had been spruced up for the upcoming Bun Festival made them look even more bright and cheerful, their dull chocolate colour notwithstanding. This colour scheme I had noticed even in the Hoi An old town district in Central Vietnam as well. (see separate central Vietnam album in this collection) (Shanghai, China, May 2017)
