Archivo: Hydra with Chinese Asterisms and Mansions

Descripción: The IAU constellation Hydra and surrounding constellations with traditional Chinese asterisms overlaid. Boundaries to mansions are indicated with light gradients, but do not take into account stars unconnected to asterisms or exactly where boundaries located off-canvas would be. Asterisms that are the namesake or main asterism of their corresponding mansion are indicated in red. IAU lines are my own work based on the defaults used in PP3, asterisms are based off the lines in Stellarium by Karrie Berglund of Digitalis Education Solutions, Inc., themselves based off of lines by the Hong Kong Space Museum. Modern southern asterisms are excluded since they were imported from the southern IAU constellations. IAU and Chinese asterisms made with PP3 then merged, cleaned, and labeled in Inkscape, mansions were made as shaped gradients in GIMP and imported as an image layer in Inkscape. I specifically made these diagrams to promote a wider understanding of Chinese astronomy and how it compares to the constellations with which I was familiar.
