Archivo: Hampea trilobata in flower
Descripción: This species, Hampea trilobata Standley, is a common small tree, endemic to the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico and Belize. It is freqently found in secondary vegetation and on the edges of more pristine forests. The species is diocecious with the male flower shown here. Because male flowers lack the characteristic monadelphous stamens (fused stamens around style) male specimens are often confused with members of the Bombaceae, in which Standley first placed the genus. The flowers of this species are similar in color and form (size varies) to other species of Hampea
