Description: Frankfurt on the Main: Escalade of the barricade at the Konstablerwache (Konstabler guard post); the contemporary depiction shows the arrival of the hessian artillery at the Zeil in the evening of September 18, 1848. In the background the barricade as well as the baroque Loewenapotheke (Lion's apothecary) in the Allerheiligengasse are visible. After futile negotiations the artillery took place and gunned the barricade down.
