Descripción: Folly tower near Pontypool. This structure is known as Pontypool Park's Folly Tower although on the OS map it is described as a war memorial. A plaque on it refers to its refurbishment in 1994 and says it was 230 years old then. So, what happened in 1764 that made people build towers? The tower is built on the southern end of a ridge crossing the square N to S, the northern end of which is Blorenge (84043). The square holds cattle fields and a little forest in E.
