Descripción: Hitler's permission to grant euthanasia to incurably sick patients. Picture taken at Nuremberg documentation centre museum. The wording of the edict in English: "Reich Leader Bouhler and Dr. Brandt are entrusted with the responsibility of extending the authority of physicians, to be designated by name, so that patients who, after a most critical diagnosis, on the basis of human judgment [menschlichem Ermessen], are considered incurable, can be granted mercy death [Gnadentod]. -- A. Hitler" The translated comment: "given to me by Bouhler on 27.8. [August] [19]40; Dr. Gürtner" Franz Gürtner was Minister for Justice (Reichsjustizminister) from 1932 to his death in 1941. Philipp Bouhler was an SS-Obergruppenführer and leader of Hitler's Chancellery (Kanzlei des Führers; KdF).
