Descripción: Duchess of Connaught's Bedroom on the 'Empress of Ireland' (1906) Cabin interior on the passenger liner 'Empress of Ireland' (1906) showing the Duchess of Connaught's Bedroom, part of a First Class suite on the starboard side of the Lower Promenade Deck. A view looking aft through the doorway into the Sitting Room. Prince Arthur, 1st Duke of Connaught and Strathearn (1850-1942) was appointed Governor General of Canada in October 1911. This photograph shows one of the staterooms on the 'Empress of Ireland' adapted to accommodate the Duke and Duchess of Connaught on their journey to Canada. The ship departed from Liverpool on 6 October 1911. The Royal apartments were decorated by A. Blain & Sons, Paradise Street, Liverpool.
