Description: The arms were officially last granted on January 31, 1973 and first granted on October 11, 1962 for the district of Offenburg. The arms are based on the arms of the Kanton Ortenau of the Imperial Knights, that also showed the Imperial Eagle with the patron Saint George on an escutcheon. At least seven cities and twenty castles were owned by the Imperial Knights until 1805. The rest of the district was owned by Further Austria, as well as some local rulers.
