Descripción: People standing around the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, watching a car full of soldiers. The soldiers are even sitting on the roof and bumpers of the car, waving their weapons and a flag. It is probable that this was taken on or very soon after the declaration of the German Republic on 9 November 1918. When it was originally built in 1791, the Brandenburg gate was intended to symbolise peace. During the Communist period from 1961 to 1989, the Gate was part of the wall between East and West Berlin.
