Descripción: Photo post-card by V. Derounian, 1930, of an elderly inhabitant of a Beehive village in Aleppo's district in northern Syria, sipping the traditional bitter murra Arabic coffee and smoking a cigarette. His over-coat is lined with wool, and serves as a mattress and a blanket (sleeping bag) when traveling, and known locally as furwa, and hence the western word of "fur". The black Kaffiya on his head conserves the heat from the sun in the cold climate of the north.
