Descripción: Banner of arms of Brighton and Hove City Council since its creation in 1997: Argent two Dolphins naiant and on a bordure Azure six Martlets Argent. Meaning: two blue swimming dolphins on a white (silver) field with a blue border on which stand six white birds. The arms were formally granted by the College of Arms on 1 April 1997, with the royal charter granting city status to Brighton and Hove having been issued by Elizabeth II on 31 January 1997. These arms replaced those of the Brighton Borough Council issued in 1897 and those of the Hove Borough Council issued in 1899. This banner has a height to length ratio of 3:5.
