Description: San Rafael Glacier in the foreground and San Quintin Glacier behind, Laguna San Rafael National Park [1], northern Patagonia, Chile. These are the main outlet glaciers on the western side of the Northern Patagonian Ice Field. San Rafael is the most northerly tidewater glacier in the Southern Hemisphere. Both giant glaciers have been undergoing rapid retreat in recent years [2].
